BRIAN MOONEY

OWNER/EXECUTIVE CHEF

Born on Long Island, NY, but raised in Boca Raton, FL, Brian got his start in the hospitality industry at his father’s poolside bar, where he worked the grill every summer. When his father sold the bar to two Italian brothers, they took Brian under their wing and introduced him to Italian cooking. Continuing his passion for food, Brian attended culinary school in West Palm Beach at the Florida Culinary Institute.

While working at the Dancing Bear in Fort Lauderdale, Brian met his now-wife, Erin. Together, they relocated to Birmingham, AL. Brian and Erin went on to start Tre Luna Catering in 2014, and after several successful years, Tre Luna Bar and Kitchen in 2019.

ERIN MOONEY

OWNER/CEO

Born in Selma, AL and raised in Birmingham, AL, Erin grew up in the food and beverage industry – with an Italian restaurant on her mom’s side, and a butcher shop and grocery store on her father’s side. Throughout her childhood, she spent time helping wherever needed, which sparked an early interest in serving others.

Erin began her career as a schoolteacher. After starting a family with her husband, Brian, she opted to stay home with the kids. To help pay the bills, Erin began catering, and ultimately found her passion in doing so.

Erin’s greatest goal is to invoke a sense of nostalgia, and for people to feel at home when dining with Tre Luna. From her love for customer service and relationship building, Erin and Brian founded Tre Luna Catering in 2014.

three moons

Tre Luna, which means “three moons” in Italian, is a nod to Erin’s heritage, the early days of Brian’s restaurant career, a play on the duo’s last name, “Mooney,” and a reference to their three children.
